Description of the Ameri-Shred AMS-500 Cross Cut Industrial Shredder

Designed for high-volume destruction, the Ameri-Shred AMS-500 is a great solution for your centralized shredding requirements. This machine tackles some of the toughest materials, breaking these materials down into your choice of three different shred sizes. With a 5 HP drive and a 5" steel paddle wheel crusher located just in front of the cutters, the AMS-500 cross cut shredder powers through stacks of paper, cardboard, plastics, and more. Available in three different shred sizes, 1/8" x 5/8" , 1/8" x 1-1/2" , and ¼" x 1-7/8" , capacities vary depending upon each shred width. The AMS-500 tears through between 300 lbs. to an impressive 650 lbs. per hour, at a rate of 42 feet per minute. Continuously feed credit cards, DVDs, and waste basket materials onto the 16" wide input conveyor. Operators can also opt to install the optional bag holder or output conveyor. If jammed, the AMS-500 will automatically switch into reverse mode until the problem is remedied. A pull-out chaff reject drawer is used for the collection of residue from the input conveyor belt. This helps eliminate paper buildup from around the motor.

As a cross cut shredder, maintenance is extremely important. Heavy duty materials can wear down the cutters. Auto lubrication is available for this unit, which oils the precision ground A-2 steel cutters and keeps this machine running in optimal condition. Weighing in at 1660 lbs., the AMS-500cc's solid steel construction guarantees longevity and reliability. This light duty industrial shredder is mounted on sturdy casters for fairly easy mobility around your location. The AMS 500 is available in 208, 230 or 460 volt, and offered in 1 or 3 phase. However, capacities may decreases when running on a 1 phase system. An extremely popular model in the Series 1 line of cross cut shredders, consider the Ameri-Shred AMS-500 for your high volume destruction jobs.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Would this handle a box of files that may contain staples and paper clips

Staples and paperclips are no problem at all. The shredder could handle a box of files as long as it falls within the maximum sheet capacity, I'm just not sure about shredding the box itself. Depends on the shape, as it might be too large for the cutting heads to grab on to unless it was flattened.
