Description of the HSM Pure 420 Cross Cut Shredder

Made in Germany with high quality materials for security and durability, the Pure 420 model is ideal for any small office with 1-6 users. Equipped with powerful motors that allows for continuous operation and cutting rollers made of hardened steel, this cross-cut model will shred through up to 16 sheets at once even with staples, paper clips, it can also handle CDs and DVDs. With a shred size of  3/16" x 11/8", it meets the requirements for security level DIN 3. These cutting rollers also come with a lifetime warranty so they are wear resistant.

This model is also environmentally friendly with its low power consumption in standby mode, automatic start/stop, and a 115 V plug, which is compatible with any standard wall outlet. At 45 lbs. and its dimensions being 24.5" x 15." x 11.5", it is still easily mobile with the smooth and durable castors. It features a 9.2 gallon shred bin with a separate collection bag for sorting and separating shredded materials.  Despite its efficiency and powerful features, this model runs as quiet as a whisper, minimizing noise development in the workplace.

  • Does this shredder take bags, or does it have a disposable bag holder?

    It is ultimately at the user's discretion. The bin is designed to be used without bags, but that means someone has to bend over and pick the entire bin up to dump it into a larger waste container. You could line the bin with bags to make things a little easier on the user, but it is optional.


HSM Pure (Models 420, 530, 630, 740, 830, 940) – Office/Large Office/Department Shredders

Parts and labor to repair any failure caused by defect is limited to two (2) years from date of invoice. Strip and Cross Cut Cutting Rollers are warranted to be free of manufacturer defects for the life of the shredder from the date of invoice.

In all cases, the final authority in determining cutting system defects lies with the manufacturer. All cutting systems must be returned to the manufacturer.

Level 5 and High Security Level 6 Shredders

Parts & labor to repair any failure caused by defect is limited to three (3) years from date of invoice. Cutting Rollers on all high security units that have an oiler installed are warranted to be free of manufacturer defects for five (5) years from date of invoice. Failure to lubricate these machines properly will void the warranty. Cutting Rollers on High Security Shredders purchased without an oiler are warranted for one (1) year.

HSM Standard Warranty

HSM warrants that any new products sold will be free from defects in material and workmanship when used under specified and normal operating conditions. This warranty is void if repairs are necessitated by accidents, misuse, abuse, water damage or fire. Please read the Manufacturer’s Operating Instructions, included with the product, prior to operation, to help ensure all precautions are taken to avoid canceling the manufacturer’s warranty. Modifications, alterations and repairs must be performed by an authorized technician. Lubrication for cross-cut shredders is required every fifteen to thirty minutes of operation, to maintain top working condition and this warranty.
