Description of the Cumberland C1000 Central Granulator

Size reduction is often a very continuous and heavy duty activity, and not all systems can withstand the demands. The C Series from Cumberland has been especially designed to address the needs of those who must process everything from x-ray films, bottles, and fibers, to extrusion purgings, pipe scraps, and more. The Cumberland C1000 Central Granulator is the smaller unit in the series and features a 20" x 40" throat along with an 18" cutting circle. This sends materials along a conveyor and into a two bed cutting chamber that utilizes both rotor and bed knives. There is also a dual flywheel that delivers additional torque to prevent inertia and slowdown when the system encounters even the most heavy duty demands. The design of the HCHC knives creates a scissor-like cutting action that creates uniform results even as less energy is demanded for the process. Some other granulators will use more a grinding action that expends high energy and leads to heat generation. Thus, those systems experience melt down of polymers, smearing inside of the machine, and all while consuming too much energy. This system avoids all of that by using Twinshear knives, rotating end discs, and air cooling for the best results.

The design of the Cumberland C1000 Central Granulator also means easy maintenance and repair because of the split chamber design. The cutting chamber opens at the center and allows the upper half to be raised away easily. This gives immediate access to the screen cradle and also allows the discharge assembly to be maintained without any difficulty. The air evacuation system never needs to be disconnected throughout this time and this cuts down the time required substantially. The unit has a 100HP TEFC motor and v-belt drive and it can be upgraded to include further options. The motor can be bumped up into the 200HP range, there can be a raised knife system for even more demanding materials, and the hopper can be equipped with a conveyor feeder if needed. There are also accessories such as blowers and cyclone separators if specific applications are being put to use. The Cumberland C1000 Central Granulator is a durable and reliable "work horse" for those who have to handle some of the most challenging size reduction tasks. It cuts down substantially on typical maintenance and upkeep and can be equipped with additional options to overcome any performance limitations.
