Description of the Cumberland X1000 Central Granulator
Injection molding processes have a high demand for scrap regrinding or size reduction. The Cumberland X Series provides some of the most durable and efficient solutions for such a need. The Cumberland X1000 Central Granulator is the mid-range model in the series and features an ample 24" x 40" throat size and requires conveyor feeding. It is capable of handling blow and injection molded parts, many kinds of automotive, furniture, or appliance parts, and even some purgings from other production processes. It can handle this range of relatively tough materials because of the unique cutting chamber design. It begins with the use of Twinshear blades (all made of HCHC) on the rotor and the beds. These do not grind, but instead perform a scissor-like cutting action. The design of the rotor also enables air cooling that prevents the polymers from melting or smearing. The use of rotating end discs also guarantees that low friction and low heat are guaranteed. The cutting action also requires a lot less horsepower to accomplish, and this means that the Cumberland X1000 Central Granulator is an energy efficient system for handling rejects, scraps, and regrinding needs. The unit features a 100HP motor that is v-belt driven and which is readily accessible through an innovative split chamber.
The upper half of the chamber raises easily to allow the screen cradle to be handled and for the motor to be accessed. This also allows the operator to adjust the knives and even make replacements. There is no need to disconnect any of the evacuation system during maintenance and this is why it is said that the Cumberland X1000 Central Granulator can be maintained in half of the time as other units. Options available for this system include alternative hoppers apart from the conveyor infeed, adjustable rotor knives, and replaceable rotor knife seats. This makes the unit a relatively customizable system and one that can also include a range of blowers and cyclone separators if needed. The throughput rate on this machine is around 2500 pounds per hour and is removed via a standard Airveyor discharge. If you require a durable and rugged granulator that can handle some of the larger and less uniform materials for size reduction, the Cumberland X1000 Central Granulator is a good choice. It will not require an immense amount of maintenance and it uses special technology to ensure low heat granulation that gives predictable and very consistent results.
