Description of the Datastroyer DCS 36/7 High Security Combo Shredder
The Datastroyer DCS 36/7 utilizes a unique design allowing it to destroy paper, CDs, DVDs, and Blu Ray Discs to the highest security level approved by the NSA. The DCS 36/7 can shred up to 14 sheets per pass and breaks down confidential documents into tiny .8 mm x 5 mm particles. It also includes a 5" optical media slot for discs, credit cards, and ID badges. Particles for paper and optical media are collected in separate bins.
The powerful motor on the Datastroyer DCS 36/7 ensures a high cutting capacity and reliable continuous operation. The cutting rollers are specially hardened steel; optimally designed for reliable, durable operation and save valuable energy. In addition, the Energy Management & Control System (EMCS) reduces energy consumption up to 90% when the DCS 36/7 is in standby mode.
The DCS 36/7's Anti Jam Technology recognizes paper jams when they occur and automatically troubleshoots by reversing or temporarily increasing the power to clear the jam. The Integrated Automatic Oiler will ensure the cutting heads are well lubricated at all times. The DCS 36/7 will even notify you when it's time to add more oil.
The Datastroyer DCS 36/7 includes a high resolution touch screen display that shows relevant information such as operating modes and a shred-bin level indicator. The innovative drive and operating system offers three modes: Silent, Standard, and Performance; destroying data efficiently and conveniently according to your needs. Standard Mode is just what it sounds like: the powerful, baseline operations of the machine. Silent Mode minimizes noise which is great for limiting distractions in the office. And lastly, Performance mode increases the power for up to 40% higher data destruction.
The DCS 36/7 has an easy to remove shredder bin that uses #800 shredder bags. The enclosed cabinet provides low-noise and dust-free operation making it perfect for any office space. Casters underneath the shredder ensure that the DCS 36/7 can be easily relocated to where it's needed most.

Q: Does the DCS 36/7 meet the current NSA requirements for paper, CD, DVD, and Blu Ray disks?
Yes, it satisfies the NSA's newest requirements for all four types of media with no planned discontinuance.
Q: Where is the automatic oiler?
On the top of the shredder there is a darker colored section, if you push down on that it will open up and expose a place to pour oil into the automatic oiler reservoir. The machine will notify you when it is time to add more oil.
Q: Does the shredded paper, and the shredded optical media, go into the same waste bin?
No, there are separate bins for the two residue types. They are not commingled.
Q: Is this shredder on wheels?
There are small casters underneath the shredder that will allow it to be easily relocated within an office.
Q: Can my DCS 36/6 be upgraded to meet the new NSA specifications like the DCS 36/7 does?
The DCS 36/6 remains NSA approved for paper and CDs, but its grandfathered approval for DVD and Blu Ray expired in November of 2024. There is no way to upgrade a DCS 36/6 to meet the new DVD and Blu Ray specs.
